Dear Helpgroup,
Not every time, but often enough to drive me crazy, my Windows 98 SE, AMD
Athlon XP 1800+, 384 MB RAM Computer does not shut down correctly.
It looks like it going to Shut Down after I do Start > Shut Down > Shut

I am having a problem... w/IE-6w/SP1 & all updates. I'm hoping someone will
respond to me in this group. I surely can't be the ONLY one w /this problem

In troubleshooting why my Norton Uninstall Wizard won't
work, I was advised by Symantek Knowledge base to verify
versions of Mfc42.dll, Msvcrt.dll, Msvcirt.dll and
wininet.dll   I discovered that I have a version

During bootup, when it tries to launch a specific program, I get "active-x
component can't create object".
The offending program is not launched and cannot be launched from the
program icon in its folder (gives same error.) Program is not Access.

When you fill out a form an enter the first letter, a list pops up from
which you can choose an entry -- like name, address, email address, etc.
When you begin to enter a URL you've used before, a list of those starting
with what you've entered pops up so you can make a selection.

Ever hear of this program? is it a windows operating
program or a virus? I deleted it,  now HIMEM.SYS is
missing.Do I now have to reinstall windows? or is this

problems and the person who fixed my computer only had
version 98.  How can I go about downloading 98SE.

I have a machine where an unknown font most probably is corrupted
and am thinking about dragging fonts from the fonts-folder to
find out which one. I wonder about if dragging some specific font
out will render Windows(FE) unbootable?

Computer will let me install from CD, but will not let it
install to hard drive. Keep getting error that Windows
Installer not present.  I downloaded it and after download
computer says file already exist.  Getting no where.

I re-installed Windows 98 two months ago and the system
was working fine until one week ago. When I tried to turn
on the pc, it did not go thru its normal progressions. In
other words, its was not booting up. It just had a

I did something fairly stupid. Accidently (long story)
moved a windows file from it's former home (program files
i think) to the desktop. Now when I sart-up I don't get
past the following message:
