On my Recent Win 98se Pc I have a Windows folder named "inf" with 5 sub
folders with some 34 m/b of files total.

I have downloaded and installed eTrustEZArmor....the 1 yr trial package.
Whenever I engage the EZFirewall it disables my AOL's Modem connection, if
connected, or, if about to log on, it won't let me past the 'talking to the
network stage'.

I just looked at my Windows folder and I have 5 Hosts file backups,
all with the same Modified time as the Hosts file.
What would have caused 5 backups to be created?  (I don't believe I
have any software to do this.)  Is there really a need for 5 backup

I use Win98 and IE6. I changed my desktop (via Display
Properties/Appearance/Scheme) to High Contrast White (Large)
but found it too big and reverted to the old setting
(Windows Standard). But now when I start up the computer

Computer just sits at the Windows 98 screen. Tried to boot in safe mode and
it does the same thing.

I am unable to get my desktop icons to auto arrange correctly.  The auto
arrange function seems to work when you turn it on and off, however the grid
that it aligns to is very random.  I seems to skip and leave open spots
randomly.  If you try and drag an icon to a blank spot it ...

Now I know I asked this before but can't remember/find answer.
I am having trouble changing the appearance of my desktop with display
properties. I click on the item I want to change and it stops responding. I
have to "end task" to come out of it.

I recently installed a serial mouse on my laptop with Win98 as the OS.  When
the computer started to hang and freeze I went to the System Icon in the
control panel and under properties, for the mouse, I checked (Disable in this
hardward profile), and I think I cleared the box ...

I know that a computer's speed depends on many different factors, but I
would like to know your opinions about this question:
What is the most important thing(or things)  which affects the computer's
speed. (I mean the hardware details)

I have two computers that are networked via a router. I know the network
cards and the router all work, because the router connects to my cable modem

ok im playing a game and then my copmuter goes to the blue screen then says
Error:Cannon read disk c:drive , then in a few minuites it soues back to my
game screen but everythiing is frozen then i have to restart ..........please

I am not able to open jpeg photos because they are associated with an unknown
application.  When I right click on the file, it does not give me the option
of "open with" to choose another application.  How can I change the
associated application? Also, any recommendations on free ...
