MPWin98gendispeople, At a recent senior computer users group meeting it was pointed out to me that the 2005 edition of mcafee antivirus really messes up win98. I was advised not to install it but to stay with the present version.

Something has got corrupted after a program crash so that whenever I start Windows 98 the desktop icons appear but the characters and icons are so big that only a portion of the desktop is visible and hence the system is unusable. Anyone any ideas how to fix this problem?

Can someone enlighten me how to extract "OPENHCI.SYS" from the windows 98SE CD. My Neice needs this file on her PC, she has just fitted a USB 2.0 PCI card so that she can connect her broadband modem. Her machine does not have USB ports as standard.

After I downloaded version 7 (automatic uninstall version 6) and hit reboot as per instructions, the computer shut down before I got back to the desktop. This persisted after 3 or 4 uninstalls/re-installs. I'm running AdAware, Spybot and Zonealarm on 98SE. Any suggestions?
