A friend asked me for help with a problem. As I was unable to solve
the problem, I was hoping someone in the group might have an answer.
System running Windows 98SE and Internet Explorer 6.

I'm trying to intall XP from 98SE, but the system compatibility check keeps
hanging on 'DVD Movie Player'. I used to have a DVD player on this computer,
but it has been removed and the software has been uninstalled. How do I
remove all traces of this DVD player from the system ...

Using Windows 98.  Media Player7.1 will not play music CD`s.  If I put in the
CD first nothing happens.  If I click on the Media Player icon, the player
comes on, but when I insert a CD the computer hangs up and must be rebooted.  
Previously worked fine.  Everything else works ...

In trying to solve an installation problem, I have, as instructed (eg
Installshield site), downloaded Dcom98.exe, run it and rebooted.    Yet when
I go to START, RUN and type dcomcnfg, I get the error message:

I have "System Save" on "D" drive, a partition of my hard drive. I don't
need this. How can I get rid of this partition to recover >4GB?

I can only start windows in safe mode and need to access the internet to
obtain drivers to fix my problem. But, everytime I start internet explorer it
won't access any internet sites.  Is there a way to access the internet?

When i conenct the mn-710 to my comp, it shows up in device manager with and
X or!. When the X appears, there is no way to enable it. Also, the device
(mn-710)doesn't light up so I am not sure why. Are there drivers that are
included in 98SE or something that allow this to work ...

My recycle bin no longer shows the file name etc. Hasn't for some time.
Instead it just displays "Info2". Is ther ea way to resroe it?

When sending a message via OE, is there an
option to have a "progress" window, showing the progress
of the message being sent?

    I used "SpyBot" 1.3 and there were a number of "spies" found
in "Cookies.txt".   I know that "Cookies.txt" can keep a record of
places you visited on the web,  but how can "Cookies.txt" hold
"spies"?
