I have an old system running win98 and use windows messenger 6.2 I recently
bought a webcam Creative NX which works fine except I cant get it to work
with messenger. Messeneger tells me it cant locate the camera or it is being

....well :-)   ...after stripping out EVERYTHING SYMANTEC (Norton), and
having a major manual cleanup to make sure that everything Symantec/Norton
was gone, ....everything is HEAVENLY !! :-)
I then installed, ( just for fun - ...call me a glutton for punishment ! ),

My brother has a Dell Inspiron 7500 with Windows 98 SE installed. It appears
to be working fine after we installed Windows updates, deleted Adware and
Spyware, and changed some settings. The only thing strange is that it
occasionally loses the display setting from Windows Standard ...

 When I try to open MS Word, it wont open. I get the error, The error in the

My SpyBot S&D has suddenly turned slower than molasses in December.  AFAIK,
nothing about my computer has been changed that would affect it.  Previously
I could run a complete check in about 25-30 minutes.  It now takes hours --
I can only complete it by running it overnight.

I used the Microsoft Upgrade CD from last Feburary to upgrade my OS and
after the upgrade I got a message that IE was upgraded.
Lately, I've been having problems with Windows Explorer hanging on
shutdown.

I have configured so that tasks for the day in outlook is opened at startup
of the computer..  This I am using as sort of diary for day's items to be
looked into.  But sometimes in that day due to some reasons (e.g. computer
stalling etc) I have to reboot and again the outlook-tasks ...

Does anyone know how to view the services running on a windows 98 machine?
I am trying to confirm that services required for a particular software are
set to automatic and not manual.
Same as the ones you see on Windows 2000 and XP machine.

My stepdad says that the Dr. Watson utility won't let them open up pictures
on their computer.  Unfortunately I'm not sure what their OS is.  Can anyone
help???
