My DVD Drive has started playing up. It plays DVDs too fast - Ive tried a new drive and that does the same. Ive uninstalled the software and re-installed and that doesnt work either. Normal music CDs play fine. it just seems to be dvds playing too fast. Can anyone help?

Does anyone know how to view the services running on a windows 98 machine? I am trying to confirm that services required for a particular software are set to automatic and not manual. Same as the ones you see on Windows 2000 and XP machine.

My old computer suddenly stopped working correctly with applications throwing up invalid page fault in module <unknown> etc. It seems to be connected to explorer though I also think the boot file has been modified in some way. A virus scan in safe mode detected nothing.

When I copy files from a CD to my hard drive, the read-only attribute is set on all the files, presumably because the CD is a read-only medium. I just wondered if there's any easy way to reset that flag in the process of copying.
