I have re formatted and reinstalled Win 98. After it gets through copying
files and most of the set up, it automatically restarts. However when it
boots back up to continue and finish the installation, I get the error
message "Protection Error" Missing vmm32.vxd. And I cant go ...

I`m trying to access Hyperterm.exe on my wife`s Win 98SE computer.  I
can get to the Hyper Terminal folder OK but it contains no
"Hyperterm.exe" file. It has apparently been deleted somehow. Does
anyone know how I can get it back? TIA

Everytime I turn on the computer, it wants me to log onto Windows.  I always

After a normal reboot, my mouse pointer (PS/2 port) is now invisable.
I have scanned for virus, ad-ware, spyware and general junk using Stinger,

deleted some orphaned files from my computer. ever since i cannot type in
fields on web pages like in a search engine. i think it has to do with one or
more of the following files - regsvr32 msscript.ocx,  regsvr32 dispex.dll,  
regsvr32 vbscript.dll,  regsvr32 scrrun.dll.

The icons for audio/video files keep changing from the old ones for wmp7 and

My computer only displays 16 colors. When I go to Start-Settings-Control
Panel and then to Display-Settings, I try to change the colors to 256 colors.
The computer asks me if I want to restart the computer and it doesn't matter
whether I restart it or not, the colors don't change ...

My XP Home editions' chkdsk.exe - autochk.exe won't work on bootup !
The Recovery console won't install !   (recovery consosle is NOT installed

I noticed today, that I have a new file in my C:\WINDOWS directory, but have
no idea how it got there.  The file called QTFONT.FOR was found in my WINDOWS
directory along with another file called HOST.* (Don't remember the
extention).  I have read up on these files and found them ...

I made a backup of some files on my other PC (Win XP) which has crashed.
The hard drive has been in the shop for a couple of weeks and I need to get
to some of those files.
I put the CD in my Win 98 SE machine and it doesn't register that it's even
