I have an old Win98 operating system on one of my computers.  It recently
started giving an error stating it cannot find WINAPI32.dll.  I did a
scandisk and found a couple of bad sectors on my hard drive - probably where
this file resided.  But I'm not familiar with this file and ...

Hi to all,
Wishing to make a back up of my system using Drive image 2002 9x - v-1.0.0.1.   Have tried with the CD method, but didn't work.  As I have about 13 Gb's of 20 Gb C drive free (5.47 used space)  I'd like to create a partition to put the data so as to burn this to CD's.

A friend of mine has an IBM ThinkPad w/ Windows 98SE (or so it had  W-98SE),
he tried to play tech and now it doesn't boot up.  He thinks he needs to
re-install his boot disk?  Well, his CDRom drive isn't working either.  Any
suggestions?

My kids turned off the computer we have. ....using the hard shut down. now

didnt think i'd need to ever post this question, but its gotten out
of hand.
my standard win98 defrag mechanism takes absolutely forever to
happen.

Looking at new Dell 8400 systems. 1GB of DDR2 SDRAM. Both systems run
Pentium 3.2GHZ 540 processor, 800mhzFSB. One system RAM is rated at 400MHZ
and the other at 533MHZ. How significant a difference is this? Thanks, Steve

and there's always a "but"--I cannot connect using IE6.
This is W98Gold.  Had a meltdown, and had to reinstall my ATT dialer.
Wouldn't authorize, so AT tech supp worked me through all the dialer
issues.  No joy.  So uninstalled dialer, DUN etc, and reinstalled DUN

     I just installed one of these onto a friends XP e-machine (PC).
     One LAN lead goes to the above and one LAN lead goes to her older W98
PC

I was runing IE 4.0 and I downlaoded and installed IE 6.0, along with all the
recommended critical updates.  Having done that, I now get the following
message when I start up:
EXPLORER

Over the years I've been in and out of MSCONFIG, and programs
that once were in my startup menu have been deleted from the disk
and no longer exist on my computer.  But they're still listed in
MSCONFIG.
