When I run scandisk and defrag my computer locks up. Windows 98se. I tried to

I just replaced my hard drive and re-installed WIN98 and WIN98SE.  I had

i get a long winded msg saying i have a duplicated device in my system.ini
file, the one specified  is vcd. ive searched for the system.ini file and
found only one instance of it.

Is there a way to see if a *.dll file can be safely deleted? I thought
I remember hearing of a program in Windows 98 that can search to see
if the system, or if any application, uses a given dll. The reason I

After booting-up one day some months ago, I discovered that I had suffered
some mysterious 'removals', to wit:
1) I used to have a *slew* of different cursors (black, white, and clear,
both outlined and not, in several different sizes, plus hourglasses of

I tried to restore the registry, however the 4 dates listed indicate the date
and "Not started". Please advise on how can I restore to an earlier date,

Is there a way that I can set the default for viewing images.
Previously when I double clicked on an image it opened in the default
windows viewer.
