I've recently had one account but deleted it, because I was sick of logging in for no reason. I was under the impression that deleting it means that Windows 98 starts right up without having to sign in... but the logon box still pops up?

im running win98 and i loaded some backup settings, when windows rebooted explorer had a page fault and now it happens every time. i created an undo file before making changes but i can only access my computer thru dos, i dont know any commands or how to find the file on that

When I start my 98 machine I hear 4 or five beeps or different length then it locks up. The screen is black. Tried starting with trl key down, Ctl Alt Del, but nothing effected the start-up sounds and lock up. I did delete a database the other day, but I had shut down normally. ...

I often use win 98 boot diskette. However, I am swithing to a portable computer which does not have a diskette reader. How do I create a boot cd? Will appreciate your suggestions.

I'm running win98 SE and this file is always present in the cookies folder. I have deleted it by doing a find file search but it returns. It appears to be a windows file, so what does irt do?

Occassionaly I need to format the hard disk and re-instal back W98 system due to virus, software & other problems. There is one web page link I found very useful to help me re-instal back the W98 system given by the Microsoft Technical Engineers called "W98 Restore.htm"

My wifes machine runs Windows 98 and started up recently with DISK BOOT FAILURE - INSERT SYSTEM DISK AND PRESS ENTER. I tried inserting the system disk in the CD but the system would not read the CD. It went straight to the A: drive after not detecting several items
