Windows 98 will not boot in either safe mode or normal mode. I can get to command prompt with my drives accessible. I have a bootdisk with CDROM capability. I have WIN98 CD available WHAT HAPPENDED BEFORE PROBLEM OCCURRED:

Is it safe to delete files located in C:\Windows that start with fffe? They are .TMP files and there is a gazzillion of them. All of them have "0" bytes. what and where did they come from? Also, it will take me forever to

I wish to thank both of you for your help on the icons being unable to be moved. I followed your instructions and the auto arrange was on so I clicked on it and then moved the icons where I wanted them on the monitor. Again thank you!

New convert trying to install Mcafee into w98se and encounter problems such as 1/ c:\windows\system\svrapi.dll were not found 2/ Could not execute the externalprog, c:\windows\temp\mpftray.exe. Do I just copy these files from another working system.ls advice before

I am running late right now as I have to be somewhere. Before I go I wish to share what I found out about Win98 and the defragmentation process, and especially its speed of doing it. Apparently Win98 defrag program is not really all that good.
