When it rains, it pours. Seemingly out of the blue, my computer can no longer play audio. This includes sound from audio and audio/video files of all types, either from the internet or from hard drive, and also audio CDs.

I have been running windows 98 on my system for a little over 4 years and the time taken to start up seems to have gotten painfully slow recently. I ve tried all the usual gizmos on SystemWorks 2003 and have removed all the programs I no longer use but start-up is still so slow.
