All user application programs are shut down. Then, when I do Ctrl+Alt+Del the "Close Program" window pops up. There are 22 programs on it's list. I have found instructions to load 17 of them under the Msconfig startup tab. Where are the instructions to load the other 5 ...

During the boot up process, my PC makes it past the windows 98 screen, then I get the following error message: explorer.exe at 177.00401F31. This error occurs in both normal and safe mode. I get two options -

I've got a strange problem since a couple of hours. When I check the start button, none of the shortcut appearing in the list are active (for example programs). Not even the shutdown shortcut (I currently shut down through the task manager, closing Explorer).

When I start 98SE it gets to the spot where my password goes and freezes up. Nothing works....mouse, keyboard etc. I can get into safe mode if that helps. How can I bypass the sign in window so it goes right to the desktop?
