My mother got a new computer for Christmas, and I'll be setting it up for
her. I'm sure there is stuff on old machine that she would like to be on the
new one.
The old machine does not even have a cd burner. It does have a USB port, and

I just installed a Intel 865perl mother board, New Intel processor, PSU
and a sata hard drive (Seagate SATA 300GB), I reused a 30 GB pata hard
drive.
Now the problems:

My CD drive is not working, and a reinstall is desirable, as my current install is
about 5 years old.

I tried to install windows xp onto a 98 machine and provoked it to do so by
running the winnt.ext file from the i386 directory rather than go through
the usual set-up procedures.
What happened was that win 98 now doesn't load up at all with the computer

Does anyone know a way to clean the power supply fan?  Mine is not
consistently coming on when I boot.   I can make it come on, by shooting it
with canned air, and once it is on, it stays on.  I have tried cleaning by

Strange thing happened today after turning on my Win 98 SE computer.
The computer turns on, the bios test runs, the windows 98 splash
screen shows up and then after the message "Windows 98 is starting"
