I have a NEC laptop with Windows 98 installed on it, and recently Ient

I am using Win98 First Edition.  The IDE hard drive controller is the Intel
82371AB/EB PCI Bus Master IDE Controller.  Will this controller control both
IDE and EIDE hard drives?  What is the maximum size (GB) IDE and / or EIDE
hard drives that it will control?

Yesterday my computer worked fine, but suddenly the windows update logo

When I click on the shutdown button in the login screen, the text shows
up but not the pictures. I can not click on any button in the shutdown

I use a simple boot diskette which includes the two system files and
a few DOS utilities like Fdisk, Format, etc.  I also use a floppy
to run Diskedit and sometimes Ghost.  It would be convenient to have
a functioning mouse for these other programs.

    I have experienced an annoyance in Win98SE on several systems.  I
run two full-screen MS-DOS prompts that are usually in the background, and
often switch back and forth between the DOS sessions and Windows
applications.  When I switch from a Windows application to DOS, using

While cleaning up a friend's Compaq Presario 5070, I wrote a note using
notepad; the keyboard letters worked fine but the special characters did not.
ie: left square bracket gave me a double circumflex accent instead ( [ = ^^

Is there a program available that will display, in real time, the amount of
RAM (in MB) in use?  It would be handy if the displayed amount appeared in
the System Tray and was active all of the time.

which kept starting up and appearing at the bottom of the screen, then
sucking memory and slowing the whole show down. (I think the poster was
