Can Recycle Bin be deleted in Win ME like in W98SE?18 Dec 2005 20:18 GMT6
I realize this question is OT, but I hope someone here is familiar with ME.
The Recycle Bin has 273 MB of folders that won't delete. Also, they are named
De01, etc.
I had this problem in W98SE, good advice here led to delete the Recycle Bin, it
LMOUSE boot problem18 Dec 2005 19:20 GMT12
When I boot my machine, I get the message "While initializing device
LMOUSE:" on an otherwise blank screen and the machine just hangs there.
Booting up in safe mode works and everything seems fine. Any hints
would be very gratefully received. Here's what I've done so far after

I don't use the writer drive very often, but it usually makes data CD's

When I try to delete an icon from the desktop I get the message, 'Recycle Bin
Format is Invalid.  Do you want to continue?'.  The machine freezes at this

List of new XP games that can run on Win98SE machines?18 Dec 2005 06:13 GMT3
I must be one of the few dying breeds that still uses win98se on a
fairly decent machine (P4 2.8ghz 512mb ram nvidia fx5900 etc). But the
problem is nowadays there are lots of new games that have their minimum
requirements as Win XP only. I haven't had the time to upgrade to WinXP
text files17 Dec 2005 20:58 GMT3
Recently I reprogramed one of my computers and now am unable to access text
files: I can open and use the notepad but can't open a saved file, although I
can access it using the quick view mode.  I have checked the file types and
see there is reference to the notepad app.  Can ...

"View as web page" Problem17 Dec 2005 17:31 GMT1
I think this started after the last win98/IE updates.
When I open, let's say, "My Documents", View as Web Page shows nothing but
the little icons that come up when pictures won't load. This is the same in
any opened file.

Latest WU16 Dec 2005 20:36 GMT16
I'm wondering if I've got a problem here -
I just downloaded the latest WU, 3.5mb. Big day on the computer, as earlier
in the day I installed Verizon DSL. The actual download went fine, but the
update has been installing for 25 minutes and is barely half done.

I added a new 15" LCD and every time I restart windows, I have to power
