When I boot my machine, I get the message "While initializing device LMOUSE:" on an otherwise blank screen and the machine just hangs there. Booting up in safe mode works and everything seems fine. Any hints would be very gratefully received. Here's what I've done so far after

I must be one of the few dying breeds that still uses win98se on a fairly decent machine (P4 2.8ghz 512mb ram nvidia fx5900 etc). But the problem is nowadays there are lots of new games that have their minimum requirements as Win XP only. I haven't had the time to upgrade to WinXP

I think this started after the last win98/IE updates. When I open, let's say, "My Documents", View as Web Page shows nothing but the little icons that come up when pictures won't load. This is the same in any opened file.

| Latest WU | 16 Dec 2005 20:36 GMT | 16 |
I'm wondering if I've got a problem here - I just downloaded the latest WU, 3.5mb. Big day on the computer, as earlier in the day I installed Verizon DSL. The actual download went fine, but the update has been installing for 25 minutes and is barely half done.
