On the clean (?) PC with all fans cleaned, another v. display and memory.
Also the PC work fine with another disk and Win95.
BIOS and batery to default!
No screen savers or power options!

From one day to the next my computer began to freeze up. It would happen as I
was working in IE or OE and just freeze. Also noticed sometimes when I would
move the cursor and click on a drop down menu that the box coming down would
just be sort of a blur of colors. Very strange! ...

If I should be in another group, please advise.  I have just spent 2 hrs
trying to find a solution in MS Knowledge Base.
I am trying to get my CardBus Card 2.0 2/4port to work.
It worked at one time but now ??????  I took it out "after shutting

Can anyone explain to me why all my command buttons show up as a box with 3
small squares inside it - and each one of these has a different geometric
shape in it. What happened to the text that is suppose to display in the
Command buttons? All the command buttons are the same ...

How can i repair the help file in win98.
It is all just square boxes now.

All was right with the world (and my computer) before I tried to download
camera software for a camera I received for Christmas.
On the reboot, I got a VFAT error.  I thought it was the camera software, so

So heres the deal. I had Windows XP, but it got infected by a virus,
and at last, windows wouldnt start. So i decided to reinstall, but
Windows XP CD was gone.
Then i found my Windows 98 install cd.

My CPU is running at 100% and the only way to knock it down it seems (while I'm
looking at the System Monitor) is to hit Control-Alt-Delete to bring up the
Close Programs dialogue box and then just let it sit there for 10 seconds. When
I cancel out of the box without doing anything, ...

My win98 network stopped working when I ran an xp netsetup.exe program. The
files that were installed in windows/system were ssdspsrv.exe, ssdpapi.dll
and upnp.dll. Is it ok to bring back the original versions of these files
from the cab folder or do I have to extract them from ...

Is there any straightforward way of extracting the individual icons from
shell32.dll?
I have the 'tree' one as a desktop shortcut, but I want to use it as a
favicon as well, and I can't do this without extracting it from the file

OS: Win98
I recently changed my ISP. Now when I go online I get a hyperterminal box
with my user id but I have to type in my password. I would like for it to
autoconnect.

For some reason WMP opens but hangs up on "Connecting to Media" up to this
time it was playing fine.

Went to restart in MS DOS and the screen went black with the cursor in
the upper left corner, and then just sat there.  What is going on?  How
to fix.
Got around the problem by using the boot disc, but not quite the same.

I have a Windows 98 based PC.
When it is left for any length of time the screen goes blank with a flashing
cursor on the top left. I am unable to get the PC to recume running windows I
have to kill the power and restart.  Any suggestions would be great.
