Is there any reason why I would want to download the .NET framework from Windows Update onto my Windows 98SE computer? Does it help with, or speed up, program execution, or is it a development tool program?

I am using W98. When i try to open Excel files from Windows Explorer, it does not work. This is only a recent problem - it used to work just fine. I can still find and open the files directly from Excel. Can anyone suggest a cause and a solution?

When I choose the "restart" option on Win 98, the computer shuts down fine, but then hangs on the startup after the keyboard/mouse check. When I select "shutdown", I can then power the computer back up and it starts up fine. Does anyone know what could make this happen?

What is the maximum file size supported by Windows 98SE ? I was under the impression it was limited to 1 GB, because of an error message I got once, but yesterday I created a slide show Iso file at 1.2 GB with no problem and burned to DVD-R.
