Is there any reason why I would want to download the .NET framework from Windows Update
onto my Windows 98SE computer? Does it help with, or speed up, program execution, or is
it a development tool program?

   I recently installed oem hdd and did a fresh install of Win98. When

I am using W98.  When i try to open Excel files from Windows Explorer, it
does not work.  This is only a recent problem - it used to work just fine.  I
can still find and open the files directly from Excel.
Can anyone suggest a cause and a solution?

When I choose the "restart" option on Win 98, the computer shuts down fine,
but then hangs on the startup after the keyboard/mouse check.  When I select
"shutdown", I can then power the computer back up and it starts up fine.  
Does anyone know what could make this happen?

I have the shortcuts for most of the items on my computer on my desktop.  My
question is:  Why when I have IE6 open and them close when I'm done and I
click on any of those shortcuts, for instance OE or even the Start button, I
wait a good 15 seconds before it opens?  I get the ...

I was under the impression it was limited to 1 GB, because of an error

I noticed recently that when I put in game CDs for my grandson, the game
will not start automatically like they used to. I have to actually access the
D: drive and select the appropriate file to run the game. I am running
