Fatal Exception at Shutdown26 Apr 2006 00:33 GMT1
For about a week now, when I am shutting down I get the 'dreaded blue
screen' which says "Fatal exception in OD has occurred at 179F:00008FB3.
I have to ctrl-alt-delete back into safe mode to shut down.   I have not
downloaded anything lately and AdAware and Norton show no no issues ...

I just installed a new usb multi card reader on my 98se drive ( have a
dual boot 98se-fat32/xp pro-ntsc, on separate hdd's).
Installed as 'unknown device' as could not install drivers & I could
not find the right ones on the disk that came with the reader, so I

I put TweakUI on a Win M.E computer just now, and it is missing
the one tweak that I wanted.
I want to turn off splash screens at boot time.
The computer is a hewlitt packard bundled with M.E.

The Bt Voyager is giving the error message
that file MFC42.DLL.6880 is missing.
Copied the file MFC42.DLL from the
Win98se cd but no luck.

A visual basic app of mine submits a pif file to run an EXE file under
DOS. This is done with a "Shell run-fit.pif parm1 parm2 parm3 ..."
command from my Windows 95/98 app.  My autoexec.bat includes two lines

Is Win98SE available as a free update/upgrade to Win98 users?
If so, where can I get it.  I've looked at Microsoft.com but couldn't find
it.

accI need a Win98 First Edition driver for a TechSolutions 512 MB usb 2.0
flash drive.  My PC has only usb 1.1 ports, but I am willing to accept the
slower speed as long as the flash drive functions.

I've been trying to partition a 300GB drive to work under Win98SE using a
Silicon Image Sii680 ATA card that is supposed to be fine with >137GB
drives as it has 48bit LBA bios and it's own 32bit windows driver to
replace ESDI_506.PDR. All partitions are less than the 127.5GiB ...

Normally, I have the green default screen, Taskbar across the bottom.
Somehow in my windows shell program, a mouse click caused this:
No taskbar, normal desktop otherwise. If I expanded a right side border across the
screen, I see a brown screen, task bar across the top.

What is the proper or easiest way to over laying win 98 with out wiping out
my data. I'm having some error messages and slow performance , freezing up,
etc and a friend said to just reinstall over the current. I have my disk but
when I try to run install it says it will wipe all ...

In IE6, I'm trying to enlarge the text on the web page. On the View menu, I
point to text size and then click on a larger size than currently set, but
nothing happens. Do I have to reboot? Or close IE and then re-open? That
would rather defeat the purpose of the option.
