How often should one clean out these temp files? And how best to do it?

For some reason  Win 98 won't accept 16 bit high setting and a 800x600
screen. It will do 256 colors though.Was working fine two days ago. I did a
reboot several times and no go. Anyone know how to fix this and what may
have happened. Any info appreciated.

I turned off my computer antisipating strong storms, and when I turned it
back on, it wants to start in safe mode.  We were not struck by lightning, so
I'm not sure why it wants to start in this mode.  I don't know what to do
from here.  Can anyone help me, please?

So defrag.exe tells me it can't proceed because of a disk error. I run
scandisk and the following happens: the progress bar reaches 96 percent
done, then suddenly jumps back to 83 percent. This happens every time,
so that scandisk does not complete and I can't defrag.

After booting my old Win98 machine yesterday....PC will not come up.
I booted in safe mode and it comes up with pink strips all down the screen.
During this safe mode boot it appears I am missing every other column.
Safe mode selection appears like this :   " 3  a e m d  "

  I have an INTEL 915GAV motherboard and I wanted to install window98SE fot
it. But unfortunately I found that INTEL has got no drivers supporting this
OS.
 Is there any way?

I am just curious about the IE REPAIR TOOL. I am running 98 with IE 6.0. All
this time I never noticed it and wondered how useful and "easy" it is to use
and understand???

The "Open" and "Explore" context menu items (right click) have mysteriously
disappeared.  It first started with losing "Explore".  Now both are gone.
How do I correct this?

I left for vacation a week ago. The day before I left I was able to use
my computer,  a HP Pavillion running Windows 98SE just fine. The day I
left I turned off the computer and unplugged it. When I returned I
started the computer and it froze while loading on the Windows 98 logo

is there a way to use mathematical notation in win xp/MS Office. I
need to be able to use exponents, square root signs, etc. in either
Word foremat or Adobe format,  ( or somethin, somehow)
