I have changed my old scroll mouse and now have a QHMPL optical
mouse210B. this mouse is not detected when i turn or my PC, it says
mouse not detected, You can connect a serial mouse now or turn offf to
install a PS2 mouse and if I turn off and restart, it works ok. any

Periodically on my Win98SE system the mouse cursor takes on a life of its own
- darting around the screen, activating icons, opening windows....all without
the mouse being moved.  It effectively freezes the system and if I'm lucky, I
can get it to shut down or worst case, just ...

traffic usage (netstat -e is not very handy DOS tool..), with some

During browsing internet pages, suddenly appeared modem window called "Modem
Country Select", that was not possible to close, without choosing some
country..  With text 'Conexant SoftK56 Data, Fax...installed. Please select
the country in which this modem will be used. etc.."

I've sort of got used to restarting the computer as it's not so frequent
now, but just wanna ask again to see if there's anything I can do to prevent
the computer from dropping offline.

Web pages in general don't size to the IE 98SE window.
Sometimes pages are larger than monitor view.
Fonts also seem to be larger than normal.
This puter used to be a 'network' drone.

i am trying to install a new piece of hardware (ethernet card) and am having
a problem... after i load the driver that came with the hardware, the system
prompts me to insert the windows 98 setup cd.  the pc never came with this.  
is there a way to get around this as i cant load ...

Installing an internal modem on my ThinkPad wrought havoc throughout my
drivers.
Now W98 SE doesn't recognize my CD ROM drive.  It's not listed in
Device Manager.

Outlook Express 6.0. My computer imediately started to malfunction. I solved
the problem by deleting Outlook Express 6.0 and reloading the 5.0 version.

I just run msconfig utility to test my Startup folder, and find there,
amongst other things, checked box:
AVP  "C:\PROGRAM FILES\KASPERSKY LAB\KASPERSKY ANTI-VIRUS 6.0\AVP.EXE -r"
The issue is that I have no Kaspersky installed anymore, I tried it, but
