I will be installing Win 98SE from scratch on an old PC. What is the general procedure?
1. Install WIn 98SE
2. Install updates from Win 98 Update Disk (from Feb 2004, I think - not sure of date)
3. Connect to Internet and get latest updates from Windows Updates

   I'm seeing 'Invalid Page Fault in module EXPLORER.EXE at 0167:00401F31'
on booting 98SE, followed by a blank desktop and no Taskbar. Last operation
was to defrag the hard-drive in Safe Mode ... any idea how I get Explorer
back, anyone? I have the 98SE disk, btw.

I've had recent problems with my secong hard drive. I'm wanting to reformat
the drive but want to copy the contents over to an external HD. I can only
boot into safemode so I'm wondering if through a command prompt I can copy
everything from my second drive over to the external ...

HELP! Clicking on a newsgroup link opens a window but the address line
is blank consequently nothing happens. I have to use copy and paste. It
was working so I did something to break it. How do can I fix this? I'm

Photo Editor.  My version is the one that comes with Win98SE, of

my son unfortunately did a format disk on my old computer, which had Win98
installed on it.  No matter what I do, when I boot it up, I can't get away
from the dos prompt.  Even when I hit safe mode, after holding F8 during
startup, it just goes directly back to the command prompt.  ...

There's a document on my computer with a wps extension and the generic Windows icon . I believe wps is the extention for Word Perfect, which I do not have installed.  When I open it in Word, Notepad, and WordPad, I get gibberish.  I can read it by using QuickView, but cannot copy ...

I have an old machine I got from work a few years ago. It has Windows 98 on
it. Is there a way to remove the netowrk login that is required evertime I
start it up. Bascially I want to make it more of a personal machine, not a
'work' machine.
