Nogames redux17 Feb 2007 06:42 GMT3
All the games are there and run.  Freecell loads, starts a new game, but the
mouse will not interact with the cards--gows to the hourglass as you roll
over th cards.  I've never seen this.
Can't detect PS2 keyboard.17 Feb 2007 05:23 GMT8
Trying to fire up an old Win98/Sp2 PC, it tells me that it doesn't detect
the PS-2 keyboard (and then tells me to press F-2 lol).
It used to run with a USB keyboard which I don't have. Is there a way to get
it going without buying a USB keyboard?

[slightly O/T] - 98 vs ME boot options.15 Feb 2007 23:52 GMT6
I'm firmly emtrenched in my comfortable little 98SE time (-warp) capsule here,
and trying to help a mate via telephone.  I thought he was also on 98 but he's
apparently taken the backward step to ME.  Not having been to ME myself, I need
a bit of help on one point.
USB 2.0 External Hard Drive Enclosures and BING?15 Feb 2007 20:54 GMT9
Does anyone happen if there is a reason why one of these things could NOT be
used with BING to make a backup, partition copy, of one's internal boot IDE
HD?    Seems like an easy and perfect solution to making a perfect backup,
otherwise.
Reinstalling Windows in a laptop15 Feb 2007 17:02 GMT7
I'm thinking about buying a used laptop with W2K Pro installed. It would
arrive with a certificate of authenticity but no CD. I also have a genuine
W2K Pro CD with the coa. If I ever had to do a reinstall, would there be a
problem (a technical problem) in doing it from my CD? I ask ...
problems with flash drives and display adapter15 Feb 2007 13:49 GMT1
Hi there, hope someone can help me with this matter.

their computer centre and everything was ok (they have WinXp). Then I

Partition Question15 Feb 2007 12:29 GMT30
My Maxtor 250GB external hard drive has an NTFS partition of 160GB for
my WinXP backup...plus a 20GB and 30GB FAT32 partition for my Win98
machines.  When setting up the drive, I recall I couldn't get more
than two logical partitions using FAT32. This leaves the drive with
Trying various ways to install Win-98 OEM -> keep getting message SU016815 Feb 2007 12:21 GMT29
My first encounter with this issue was posted yesterday.
I really don't believe that I'm getting this message because the
installer is detecting a pre-existing installation of windows.  I
think there's something else going on.
Make your slow PC a thing of the past14 Feb 2007 23:49 GMT1
You made the investment in your PC so that you could enjoy the
benefits of a fast, easy machine that would make your life easier and
more enjoyable. Unfortunately, after continued use, all PC's suffer
the effects of a corrupt and ineffective Windows Registry, causing

Product Key Code14 Feb 2007 05:00 GMT6
where is this stored on my installed machine?    I got the networking

couldn't get the "browse" to point to the cabs on the hard drive, aborted the

Virus14 Feb 2007 03:21 GMT3
Hi.  I'm running Windows 98se.  I have a virus called "Advertismen", and I
can not get rid of it.  I ran Ad-Aware.  But it's still there.  Deleted it
from my temp. files but it didn't go away.  Also tried Spy Doctor,
but.......virus is still there.  Tried to down load Hijackthis, ...
Bootup stops at logo screen14 Feb 2007 01:18 GMT8
I only see the Hp logo on bootup, it never goes beyond that. I can't get
into BIOS.
I booted up and alternately pressed F1 and Del, no effect. I booted up
with a W98 boot disk, no effect. When it's running, the power switch has no
