A partition, which previouly booted, no longer boots. The message "Invalid
System Disk" appeared. There are still 2 partitions that do boot (there are a
total of 3 partitions on the harddrive). What do you recommend?

Excuse my bad english, but I am having a probleme with an IBM thinkpad
series 1400 and it have win 98 version 4.10.1998, it is an OEM package and
the probleme is that even if I re-install the OS  then update the IE 5 to IE6

I've recently noticed that when I start my computer some icons on my
desktop i.e. 'my computer' and ' my documents', which are located at the
left side of the desktop are moved downwards! Could this be the result of a
virus? I have AVG which shows no virus at the moment though I ...

My neighbor asked me for help with her word program.
Some how...... she set something that puts a solid
black box across the screen when she tries to type
in some text.By that I mean its about 2 sizes bigger

I'm having problems reinstalling win98.  I have the files on
my hard drive, so I run the setup.exe file from there.  I go
through all the usual steps, right up to the first Restart.
After the restart, I get the usual messages of "Please wait

They ain't what they used to be.
I'm lucky if I can bat 75% with most of the ones I buy anymore.
I'm asking here because most 98 machines still have floppy drives.
Any recommendations for a specific brand?

I can't download any ActiveX, and, Java won't run but says enabled.  I get
messages that say a file can't be opened because the dll path doesn't exist.  
What has happened here, I have tried everything, but, without knowing much
about my computer.

I met a women at a party tonight who loaned her win98 system to friend's and
they accidentally entered a password which they forgot, so now they can't

ask the following question: is ESDI_506.PDR used for hard drive access
when one boots only to the command prompt (or exits Win98 to DOS mode)?

On a Win-98 system, I don't know exactly when this started to happen,
or why, but every time I manually eject a CD I get a dialog box
telling me something like "a request was received to eject a disk that
is in use" with 2 buttons (eject and cancel).

My granddaughter has Windows 98 installed on her computer.  She had a crash,
or files were accidentally deleted, and she no longer has Word, Excel, etc.  
To make matters worse she can not find the Windows 98 install disk.  What
options do we have?

I am at my wit's end.  Posted in one networking NG, but I got no response.
So, I was hoping the friendly folks here might be able to help me or point
