This is probably pretty stupid but I have googled and found nothing to help. I have a fairly simple stock control/ database program which crashed on me due to a power failure. To re-install I must first uninstall.

Have a PC running Windows 98 SE. Never a problem on hang ups on shut down, however on boot up, on many occasions the disk scan operation starts with the usual message that to prevent the scan from happening please shut down properly?

Both my drives aren't recognizing the CDs I put into them. When I go into Device Manager though there are no open devices, all +'s. Do I need to use the drivers that came with the devices to get these drives working properly? I'm using Windows 98 SE.
