My win98 box has been off-line for over a year. I don't
even have a phone line for dial-up internet. My access is
strictly thru a public library win2k machine with a Zip
drive.

I am running Windows 98 with IE 6.0.2800. Windows update
(WUPDMGR.EXE is versin 5.00.1788.1.
When I try to run Windows Update from the START menu i get

My Aztech modem is detected by win98 everytime on startup.
Initially it appears in device manager under modems, then
every detection on startup appears under "other devices".
