I reformatted my HP Pavillion and reinstalled Win98 2nd
Edition.  Prior to the reformat/reinstall, I kept up to

I applied the latest service pack for internet explorer
and now outlook express refuses to open with the
message "Outlook Express cannot be started because
MSOE.DLL could not be loaded". Anybody else experiencing

The Microsoft Windows Update page doesn't update anything
on my computer.  Tried this several months ago and again
today, nothing.  Left the dialog box up for 24 hours last
time, nothing.  How do I get it to update?

I have been suffering a similar problem to Michele.
Windows no longer sees my broadband cable modem or my
scanner (both USB) and despite going into 'add new
hardware' (as Don Philipson suggested to Michele)and

when I try to access outlook express 98 it locks me out
advising that my password is not valid even though my ISP

I was told by a to update my Windows 98 second edition
with the new updates which I did.  (I can't afford XP)
Now, I get the message that I have no modem!  The Dell
folks told me that of course I need a new modem!! I
