Does anybody know why my modem is not displayed in 'Device Manager'?
'Add/Remove Hardware' cannot detect the modem but it is accessible w/
softwares like SuperVoice or Bitware.

I needed to make a full restore of my W98SE and I lost all my critical
updates installed since August 2001 until the last ones provided by the
beginning of the current year.  I don't have backups for such updates.  Do

I recently installed a bunch of critical updates and I also installed the
reminder by mistake. How do I get rid of this? It's driving me nuts
everytime I go onto the net it pops up.

A couple of nights ago I inserted an AOL CD, hoping to be able to examine
what was on the disk.  However, it immediately began attempting to connect to
sign me up.  I stopped the process, but next day found that apparently my
dialing set-up had been changed.

I tried to update my Windows 98, first edition on http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com/
but I get a message that only administrators can install updates, which is nonsense on a Windows 98 system on which I'm the only user. How can I correct this?

I go to the update site.  Let it scan and it tells me I have 3

When my computer shuts down it doesnt complete the whole
process and eventually i have to switch it off myself.  It
freezes at the screen where it says, please wait while
your computer shuts down....and never gets to the screen
