Hi I want to connect my laptop to a desktop PC so I can tranfer about 16GB
data quickly.
I have tried Direct cable connection via Parallel port but it is too slow.
Now I have network cards on both machines and cat-5 UTP cable about 1 meter

Simple setup:
Two cards and a crossover.
both machine have identical cards and motherboards.
both configured thus:

I can from either xp machine. I can see my 98 machine

Greetings to all,    How do you make Win98 show the network connection
screens near the clock like the dial up connection screens.  I would
like to monitor activity and have not been able to locate where the
function is selected.

Two machines running 98se. a fast ethernet switch connected to an ntl
broadband cable modem. an nic in each machine.
Which ever machine boots first sees the internet. The other doesn't.
And neither machine sees the other.

I am running win98se and it is oem.  I am attempting to
set up a network. When i attempt to activate internet
connection sharing as stated in the operating manual the
installation program cannot find any of the files on my

Is there a  Traceroute program for windows, that will use a remote web proxy
that has been assigned in IE ?  or that has option to assign a proxy to use,
in the same way that IE allows doing that?

I am trying to use the Network Setup Wizard (netsetup.exe
from XP) on a 98 machine in order to connect with a XP
machine, but I get errors saying that the network hardware
could not be found.  I do not understand this as I use
