Thanks you were right on seems the first win 98 computer
(by coincidence) had a common sign on name as the 2000
machine. I tried all kinds of networking solutions but
when I added the user and made him an administrator and

I have 7 workstations 5 XP and 2 Win98 connected to a NT
server all works fine.
I just installed a new server 2000 box and only the XP
workstations can logon. The 98 workstation receive "No

I have setup a LAN using a netgear router 192.168.0.1,
an XP machine with fixed IP 192.1687.0.2 and an old
win 98 SE machne with fixed IP 192.168.0.3. Both belong
to workgroup "mshome"

I want to hook up a PC running Win98 accross the internet
to a VPN router. I need to have VPN SW on the Win98 client
machine. It doen't seem that the OS provides for such a
setup, at least that is what I have been told. Can I use

Have been using a program to show my LAN address, as well as
my WAN address, and  has always shown correctly up until last
night.
For the LAN address , it returned 4.0.0.3 (unknown) with the correct

When I go into the network neighborhood, I am shown to be
be there on the other computers, I just can't go into the

I have two 98 and 1 2K in the same network. I can see the
2K from the 98, and I can locate the 98 machines using "
search computer" from the 2K even though not actually see
it in my Neighborhood.  But I can't access 98 from the 2K

Hi, we have a P2P network of 7 computers, all running
win98SE, and need to upgrade our operating system. To
minimize expenses, we hope to install XP on 1 or 2 of the
newer computers. Can we have a P2P with XP and 98se? And
