Small network of 10 pc's. Windows 98 peer to peer via router. Router also acts as internet gateway to broadband connection. One of the PC's has developed an interesting problem.

I have a windows 98 computer We use a hawking router with a ipaddress of 192.168.1.1 on the local side I have tried to dhcp and static the ip address on this machine. I have set the address to the gateway and removed it withthe dhcp

In the process of un-installing and re-installing a Linksys WMP 11 Wireless PCI adaptor driver (under Windows 98SE), I seem to have 'lost' three driver files: vnetsup.vxd, vredir.vxd and dfs.vxd, which prevent me from setting up a home network.

Two machines, WinXP and Win98, working happily together for years, lose network functionality overnight, and cannot even ping each other. Wiring seems OK. Static IP addresses 198.168.0.1 and 10 on subnet mask 255.255.255.0 seem OK.

What is the best site out there, for tweaking your internet speed in the registry, when you have cable? I find that so many have bad info, talking about keys that are not there and such.

After having uninstalled - not correctly, as I can see :( - an old printer, it was deleted from printer folder, but not from Network Neighborhood. How can I do to completely remove it? Thanks in advance.

Any way to change the User Name that shows up in the Network Logon window ?? Have tried using regedit and searching for : user name, logon name, registered owner name, network logon name, etc. Nothing returns.

Experienced IT consulant, checked xp and win98 pc's for problem wit simple? home network via router. Couldn't see either, why connection failing. Service pack2 added to xp, spyware trojans etc found and removed.

I have Windows 98SE on a dual boot with Windows XP on a Presario S6000NX, on a seperate hard drive. Everything works fine except I keep getting this message on start-up "cannot find msnp32.dll. Microsoft Network may not be available." and, indeed, Network Neighborhood is missing. ...
