I have two internet connectionss, one is a BT line via ADSL and one is via modem on the same PC. With only ADSL active, IE uses that. The speed gives it away. When I start up the modem connection, it seems to take priority.

Can I connect 1 XP Pro PC (Guest) to 1 Win98 Original (Host) using direct Parallel connection. I know I can use a Serial connection, but Parallel is apparently faster? Thanks for any assistance.

A dial-up error (645) during a connection attempt gave instructions to delete the modem dial-up adapter and reinstall. Deleted adapter only find no equivalent to reinstall. Where do dial-up adapters come from?

I've had a small network in my home for two years fairly trouble free. All boxes are Win98SE with NICs connected to a hub with CAT5E. One has a modem and ICS. The ICS box dials up the ISP and the others simply launch IE. All could share files and printers also.

What is the safest way to setup my 98SE machince to see a folder on my desktop that is on my XP64 machine? both machines are connected to a router. I didn't seem to have a problemn setting up my old 98 machine like this

I have 3 similar Windows 98 SE computers networked with Linksys LNE100TX cards and a Netgear WGR614 router. One machine will lock up after it runs for hours attached to the network. It also will lock when bringing in a large file (10 seconds or more).

Win98se seems to be problematic when it comes to networking, sometimes it does and then it doesn't. If someone could answer this question please. Deleting tcp/ip from networks and then re-installing asks for the disk

I want to make a Win98se PC stand alone (temporarily). I notice when it starts up without the network cable plugged in, it can take many minutes to boot. If during such a wait the cable is plugged in, the PC comes to life and boot completes.
