Today I just changed the primary network logon in Network properties to the
Client for Microsoft Networks from Windows logon for the purpose of
troubleshooting a print sharing problem on my 98 machine.  After restarting
my PC, the login screen to Windows appeared.  As a result I ...
What is the connection logic for IE6?14 Sep 2005 14:43 GMT4
I have two internet connectionss, one is a BT line via ADSL and one is via
modem on the same PC.
With only ADSL active, IE uses that. The speed gives it away.
When I start up the modem connection, it seems to take priority.
DIRECT PARALLEL CONNECTION14 Sep 2005 09:13 GMT2
Can I connect 1 XP Pro PC (Guest) to 1 Win98 Original (Host) using direct
Parallel connection.  I know I can use a Serial connection, but Parallel is
apparently faster?
Thanks for any assistance.

A dial-up error (645) during a connection attempt gave instructions to
delete the modem dial-up adapter and reinstall.
Deleted adapter only find no equivalent to reinstall.
Where do dial-up adapters come from?
File and Print Sharing and ICS stopped working13 Sep 2005 16:53 GMT5
I've had a small network in my home for two years fairly trouble free. All
boxes are Win98SE with NICs connected to a hub with CAT5E. One has a modem
and ICS. The ICS box dials up the ISP and the others simply launch IE. All
could share files and printers also.

I have a small home network with an XP SP2 PC and a 98 PC successfully
sharing the net via a Belkin router.  If I do a Find Computer they see each
other and can share files quite happily, but neither computer can see the
other in Network Neighborhood/My Network Places.  Nor can ...

Win 98 Administrators password10 Sep 2005 22:19 GMT2
I have obtained a part time voluntary role within a local school in the ICT
department. Nothing technical, defragging, virus scans and general printing
problems, maybe helping out with very basic Word and a paint programme.
The PCs are networked and I tried to scan a document on ...

the van returns each day, someone has to remember to log into its

Locks up when transfering file09 Sep 2005 03:43 GMT2
I have 3 similar Windows 98 SE computers networked with Linksys
LNE100TX cards and a Netgear WGR614 router.  One machine will lock up
after it runs for hours attached to the network.  It also will lock
when bringing in a large file (10 seconds or more).
An ongoing networking problem07 Sep 2005 22:20 GMT3
Win98se seems to be problematic when it comes to networking, sometimes
it does and then it doesn't. If someone could answer this question
please.
Deleting tcp/ip from networks and then re-installing asks for the disk

Want to make PC stand alone07 Sep 2005 13:12 GMT2
I want to make a Win98se PC stand alone (temporarily). I notice when it
starts up without the network cable plugged in, it can take many minutes to
boot. If during such a wait the cable is plugged in, the PC comes to life
and boot completes.
