Hi i just recently got an ethernet card and upgraded to DSL. Something about my connection is wrong and my system has become very unstable:

My wife's laptop is running 98SE. We have set up an XP home computer for the
kids and it has our only printer. I am able to print to it from 2003 Server,
but not from the laptop. Here are some things I have tried after reviewing
ideas on MS KB, Google and Lexmark:

For a private network between 2 WIN98se systems I used Netbeui with good
results. Now on one system I have WinXP installed and am trying to
reestablish connection. Do I need an other protocol for this?

I've got two computers (xp and w98se) hooked up to a router that's fed by a
cable modem.  With XP I can disable the net connection easy using the "LAN"
connection icon.  How do you do this in Windows 98se??

When you install Win98se, you have to create a user name and password. This
is used to log onto Windows.
1. How to I change the user name?
2. How do I change the password?

Downloaded the latest critical Windows patches this morning, and now

I wish to network three Windows 98 PCs and I'm considering using the DLink
DI-704P router/print server and the DLink DSM-602H (or 604H) NAS. I made a

When I boot up my 98 PC which is networked to my XP PC I am asked for the
Entire Network Password for MS Networking.
This is a nuisance and is not required. How do I get rid of this?
