I'm desperate. I need help with my desktop computer. it all started when i
tried to sign on aol and was getting no dial tone. Had no problem the night

I was half way through the latest critical update from
Microsoft on my Win98SE based home LAN server when the big
blackout hit. That PC seems to run OK but now when I try to
rerun the update it keeps saying it failed try again.

I have Windows 98 and when I boot up my machine and it
goes completely through the boot process to my desk top,
it automaticallly reboots. It won't stop rebooting. I
don't know what caused it to start this. Everything seemed

My computer takes about 1 minute to boot up.  It used to
take about 20 seconds or less.  I have installed no new
programs.  I tried scandisk, defrag, empty temporary
internet files to speed up.  Nothing has worked.

Suddenly, my CD drive (TDK CDRW) does not show under My Computer or in
WExplorer.  This despite the fact that the ASUS P4B533-VM MOBO detects
and shows it during boot.  It also shows in Device Manager as okay.
What can some suggest that I can try in order to recover the CD?

When I am loading a new program, I get the error DSHELL
has caused a general protection faultin module MSTEST.EXE
at 0004:000033c6. I then get kicked out back to the main

I have recently developed a problem with the processor
going into a working loop that stops all other activity
for up to 2 ro 3 minutes.  On a reboot a message appears
