I foolishly changed the display settings for no good

changing the settings is now so big that the OK/Apply

When I start up my system, it runs through the BIOS screen
normally, but then hangs up on the Windows logo screen for
25 minutes or more!! After it finally gets going I am
often unable to use more than one program at a time or it

I have a very peculiar problem. I have a Pentium-II with 64MB of RAM, with Windows 98 running on it. Everytime I try to Scandisk my computer or try to Defrag the Hard-disk, the process goes upto 10-15% and then re-starts again with the message on the status bar "Disk content ...

No matter how many times I try, Defrag. will not complete.
This is after trying numerous times(3)to run the defrag.
