My pc has started making a whistle sound. It sounds like a
whistle on a kettle boiling but not as loud. If I turn off
the speakers its not near as bad but I can still hear a
faint whistle comming from the pc case. I also tried

I have to issues:
1. My system is running very sluggish. I disabled every
program (that I'm aware of) to try to run scandisk or
defrag.  After a minute, or so, scandisk or defrag prgram

If we leave the computer off for awhile and than go back

im running windows 98 se , al works fine until i plug the
bt voyager 100  usb modem , then computer restarts  runs
scandisc  all is fine for 1min-2hours intermittently. it
only happens when  the modem is plugged in could this be a

The problem is some of my programs laod very very slow.
When I go to shutdown I get a message "Notification for
Wnd for RNAdmin" and then my options are "Wait" "Eend
Task" or "Cancel".

I downloaded upgadv.exe from Microsoft to check whether my computer would
run Windows XP.
I extracted the upgadv file to C:Drive and ran it.  C:Drive had then changed

When booting I get a message that windows\sp.dll is
missing and my computer shuts down in the middle of some
applications.  I have tried to upgrade to XP Pro but it
aborts in mid-install too.  Any ideas?  Thanks
