I get this when I start my computer, and also when I load
many of my programs, I have norton antivirus 2004, It
would not let me run live update, and recommended that I
uninstall it and re-install it, I uninstalled the Norton

Is this possible?  Can we load Pub XP into updated version
of Win 98? Will it run and will it take old saved files
from Pub 98?

Im trying to install windows 98.. after my father did
something (not a clue what) and the pc would no longer
start up...
all im getting is "invalid system disk"

recently i have been experiencing numerous system hang ups.
i'm not sure what is causing the problem.
Mcaffee automatically downloads the virus updates,

I just upgraded from 95, and when my computer starts up
and the desktop loads, icons do not appear normal. It then
freezes, when I go to the Start button (or anywhere on the
bottom bar), the hourglass on my pointer appears. Ican't

I was told to go in to contrl/alt/delete, see what
programs are active and delete some of the programs so I
improve performance....how do I permanently stop some of

i need to defrag , due to errors ..but can't ..  am on
cable ..  defrag gets as high as 2% then cable " pings "  
clearing the defrag  back to 0 %...is there away around
this with microsoft ..  or do i need a 3rd party app.?

I really don't know in which category to post my question,
so I'll start here.  When I click on
Start/Settings/Control Panel, a flashlight pops up, waving

I have Win98SE on a SOYO K7VTA Pro mobo and it had 512 mb
of memory.  Whenever I add another 256 MB, I get out of
memory error messages on most everything.  I have looked up

I have an IBM 570E Thinkpad with 320 mb of ram.  I am
constantly encountering frozen screens when I have more
than one application open, especially Quicken or Palm

Have a PII gateway E-3110 with win98 that takes 7 minutes
to get from post to the network logon.
There are no harware conflicts and no viruses. I am
looking for some idea's before I format the HD and reload.

I attempted to pull up FreeCell again and I noticed that
when the window opened on the title bar it read s:.
Still able to pull up gameboard, but have a hanging
hourglass.

On startup, windows boots to the desktop, no icons come up
and the following error pops up:

windows stops booting, and just hangs.

Every time i try to run scandisk or defrag it says
computer doesn't have enough memory. 160 gb hard drive
with 512 mb memory.Tried shutting down all programs in
ctrl + Alt + del. Tried in safe mode. Tried changing
