Defragging is either not advancing at all (beyond 7% in 24

When running disk defragmentor and attempting to run

i recently upgraded from win95 to 98.however my display is

All works well in Windows XP.
When I dual boot to Win98SE, I can get it to boot and operate properly if I

Every time I install a MS patch or upgrade the machine
seems to run more slowly. I'm told that this is a Windows
98 problem and nothing less than a format c: will improve

When starting Win98, I get the "Windows Protection Error"
and when I check bootlog.txt in Safe Mode, I find that the

Since accepting this about a week ago I get error messages
on start up  such as "Memory access violation in module
kernel 32 at- " then a series of numbers which varies each
time I start up. Sometimes the m/c freezes before boot up

When I start my computer with Windows 98 I get a message
that says it cannot load the file "2ndsrch.dll". It says
it is the wrong format.  How can I fix this?
