I'm a computer consultant - client showed me today on her
WIN98se machine that in MY COMPUTER, when you double click
on c:\ drive , it brings up the installation for Turbo Tax
2001. It takes you 4 or 5 screens into the install and

My computer has been acting funky. It wont scandisk or
defrag. It freezes up often and it is slow. I checke the
memory in system tools and it says we hve all Free space,
no used.

In trying to get rid of the pop-ups I must have deleted
part of my windows 98.  I do not have the program disc.  
Can I download windows 98?  

I am receiving random fatat exception error messages after

correct the Texas Instruments PCMCIA problem I am
encountering on my notebook.  But, the TechNote states
that I need to replace the file CBSS.VXD from version 2222

I have an older Windows 98 system that is very short of
memory on the C drive.  There is a huge volume of material
in the Windows//Temp folder; can I empty that folder to
create new space on the C drive?

I just performed a clean 98SE install on my box.  
Reinstalled all of my apps and my data.  I had previously
copied my data to another PC on my home network and
copied it back to a temp directory.  I am now copying

in the log file in the control panel that shows installed
programs.  Can someone tell me where in the registry or ?
where the log file is so I can delete these?

Cleaned startup issues, eliminated Swen, and lockups are
now occurring no matter if in email, MSWord, MSProject or
whatever.  I Click on anything and it may take 30 seconds
to a minute before re-engages.  I assume it is a memory

i have accidentally made some files on my computer open in
paint by cheking the "always use this program to open this
type of file" box in the "open with" window.

I would like to know how to change the order of the items
that start-up when I launch Windows 98SE.
I am trying to acheive more efficient use of memory (ie
loading larger files first) and also, loading more

Just received this in an email from an acquaintance who
received it from a relative.  It could have originated
anywhere.  Could you advise as to accuracy of content, and
whether or not this is a suggested fix?
