I'm looking for step-by-step instructions to reformat my
hard drive.  It has never been done on a 6 year old
system and things are a mess. Reformat and reinstall
WIN98 is the way to go.

I can't seem to open any programs from the desktop.  They
either immediately or constantly crash.  I can't download
from the internet or from a cd without getting a message
about corrupt data.cab files.  I don't know if I

I have just installed a new 30 GB hard drive. The 4 GB

I checked the board for answers to my problems and there
was nothing of help so here goes.  I had a problem with
scandisk & defrag and went into safe mode to defrag.  
Defrag went to 10% and a error message popped up telling

I'm having a strange and rather irritating problem with
Windows 98 SE.  Sometimes the computer will get in a funk
where when I delete a file or move a file -- be it on the
desktop, Windows Explorer, wherever -- that particular

My PC won't boot into Windows. When restarting, scandisk
runs to about 70% then the computer freezes. I can only
power off, then on switching back on, scandisk runs and
then the problem starts again.

Web pages scroll very slowly for me when I use Alltel as
my ISP, but scroll perfectly when I use Compuserve as the
ISP. (Same computer, etc., etc.) What can I do to correct
this problem?

I startup my computer and everything is fine.  But as the day progresses, my
system starts to pause on every command.  At first it is a short pause, but
then the pauses get longer.

I was told not to end tasks on systray and explorer.  I
never have.  I've noticed that systray is not listed in
the ctrl, alt delete. I called a computer repair store and
they said it really wasn't needed and not to worry about
