just installed Ofc XP. Runs fine for about 1 hour. Then
hard drive starts doing something and then when I try to
open any programs I get message: "not enough memory to run
this program. Quit one or more programs and try again."

Hi there knowledgeable people: why does Win98SE offer BUT
NOT KEEP my choice of wanting to set my own Virtual Memory
limits? Yes, the box with the warning that I might not be
able to start my computer etc. comes up, but than it does

When I try to open a Word file I get a message "An error
has occured in your program.  To keep working cick ignore,
etc." When I click anything ignore or cancel it says I
have perormed an illegal operation and will be shut down.

whenever you restart the pc a message comes up saying
error starting program   a required DLL file,DSOUND. DLL
was not found what is this and is their a way to fix it

Too many programs run at once after starting up computer.  
System resources are low when just using one program.  How
do I keep these other programs from running at start up?

missing or corrupt (DOS screen).  I do not even know what

My system resouces always runs low, the best I can get is

I was trying to configure my windows 98 machine to
network with my windows XP machine. After setting some
internet options and during the reboot process the 98
machine locks up on the windows 98 banner page. I need to

Outlook Express (V6.00.2800.1123) keeps on going into 'overtype mode' for no
apparent reason.  I haven't been able to find the reason why it does this so
haven't been able to stop it.

I just moved my Windows 98 machine from one room in my
house to another and now when I choose to shut it down
(by clicking start, shutdown) it will shut down and then
restart itself.  Is there a fix for this?

runs '98.  He has some severe performance issues, how can
I access the active "processes" in '98 as I would normally
be able to do in task manager ?

After re-installing windows 98 I have noticed that there
is a negative number in the free Disk Space section on the
Virtual Memory setup.
