lost my notepad.exe and a .dll for the notepad on W98.
can anybody help?

I have some very serious Windows problems.  I am using a Windows 98B laptop.
Last week I accessed a site which auto installed a ton of garbage on my PC (in
the background).  Garbage like an Internet Optimizer, Interstital AD Delivery
by 180 search assistant, 3 Internet search ...

I get this Illegal operation the minute I turn on my
computer. If I X it out it returns right away. No matter
were I go online or what I do it comes back every time. I
went into Details and it gives the following information:

For days now a few moments after connecting to the
internet, I get the message: "WAOL caused an invalid page
fault in module MSJAVA.DLL at 017f:7a9a8935".  Registers:
EAX = OcOdbee 8   CS = 17f  EIP=89357a9a  EFLGS=00010202

I get a message illegal operation program will shut down
message when booting. When I hit the detail button it
says: Module Explorer.exe@0167:00401f31. When the program
shuts down I can't load windows at all. "Please help"

This morning I had a power black out in my area and
obviously my computer was abruptly shut down.
Since I restarted my machine, I'm having the following
message that keeps poping up on my screen :

When visiting certain websites, for example
(www.claymania.com/rate-aug.html) my browser and whole
computer locks up. The mouse will move, but clicking on
the web page links, browser toolbars, or anything else on

Can anyone tell me how to free up system resources on my
computer? I keep getting a box come up that says "LOW
RESOURCES" and then it locks up on me. This computer is a
couple years old (4), and I know there has got to be ways

When I boot up 98se (splash screen disabled) it shows some commands
after "starting windows 98". How do I disable these commands?

I have lately found that when trying to shut down,
generally after having been on the internet, that  will
get a message that msgsrv32.exe has not finished shutting
down - so I click on wait - and wait and wait. Task

When starting computer the mixer ( C-Media Mixer) does not
start every time, what causes freezing of programs after
some time and computer has to be restarted or reset, since
restart is not always possible. Any idea how to resolve
