Would there be any benefit to upgrading my WIN98SE
computer's bios? It is 6 years old and has never had one
done but I am concerned about screwing up the computer.

I have always had trouble resarting my 98SE computer.
I have tried closing all of the backgroung apps, ran
adaware, spyware, fprot, cleaned up the registry ,
uninstalled programs but to no avail. It's no big deal as

I am currently having a probelm with my mouse lagging
behind in movement.  Also the same is true of keyboard
entries, it seems to lag a few character behind, unless I

He then shut down as normal.

I have many programs in MSconfig. utilities startup that
are no longer installed on my computer.  I know they
really don't affect anything as long as they are
unchecked,  but it makes for a long unneccessary list. I

When I turn the computer on, the wallpaper appears, but the icons do not.  A
message box comes up with the message:
MSTask
This program has performed an illegal operation and will shut down.  Quit

My computer turned itself off and now won't turn back
on.  I push the button and nothing happens.  It's not the
outlet it's connected to, nor do I think it's the power
cord.

When I go to shut down my computer I get a Message box
saying that I must close down file svc32 before I can
close down. How can I stop this Message comeing up?

when the resource percentage listed under performance goes
down my pc slows down and sometimes freezes  how can i

I then click on number 1 "Normal" and it then it goes into windows. It was just
fine before I updated my chipset. Is that what effected it? Why should it?

When we turn the computer on, it stops in DOS mode with
the options 1: normal, 2: logged, 3: safemode, 4: step by
step confirmation, 5: command prompt only, 6: safe mode
command prompt only.  When normal is entered the
