swap file not releasing mem after re-boot27 Feb 2005 03:36 GMT2
Used to release after a few minutes even without re-booting,now taking
a couple of DAYS!

It appears that several software programs have become
corrupted.  Viewing the files in Windows Explorer, all of
the subdirectories are labeled with random characters

On my modern XP machine I run a NES emulator called NEStron.  I copied
this emulator over to my PII Win98 laptop and it does not run so fast.  
Is it because I should be running a DOS NES emulator, because 98 is
based on the DOS kernel?  I use DOS mame and thjat emulates 32 bit

I am using W98. When I right click on My Computer on the Desktop and
then left click on Properties nothing happens.

I've been told several times storing files on the Windows desktop slows performance of the pc.
Does anyone have any definitive evidence of this? As far as I know the Desktop is just another folder.
Any help, links to info apperciated.

Re-installed windows after fixing up some problems in my home
computer, and this is what is still unresolved:
- at Win startup and before logo shows on screen, it asks "press F1 to
continue, DEL to enter setup". Never did this before.

I'm running 98SE, and OE 6. The dictionary use to be part of Office
'97, I think, but don't have that up any longer. I've tried diff ways,
and somehow I got works 2000, but it's not cool, it takes too long, is
too stupid, and goes thru several windows, just to send one note. Can

I have the Media player both in my win98se hd and in my XP home hd, same
computer. Win98 has the 6.01.4 version and XP has the 9.04.1 version. When I
try to playback a ati video clip, it shows its complete content in the win98
version, but that same clip in xp only plays the audio. ...

I  have an intel P4 2.5 GHz cpu and am running windows
98SE. At startup the BIOS recognizes the correct CPU.
