Win98SE historically ran a defragment on the C: drive, but now sits for hours throwing the confetti into the air, collecting it, but NEVER advancing into any amount of completion. Even displaying full details shows a large blank screen.

Hi, I wonder if anyone can help me solve this problem. When I right click to open a new folder, or to rename a file, my pc freezes and I have to close down. This happens every time. It has only just started to do it. I have Windows 98 SE.

Over the past few days the following 2 different scenarios occur on my Gateway desktop running Win98SE. (1) While in IE6, the mouse will "freeze" for about 30 seconds and then be fine. About 10 minutes later the same thing happens. About 5-10 minutes

Some Icons change when copied from Desk top to Quick launch toolbar. When I open the quick launch folder all icons in the folder are the same as displayed on the Desktop. The icons change when dragged from desk top to quick launch toolbar. Anybody know why?

The other day I did a disk cleanup then a manual search for .tmp files trying to make some room on my HD. I deleted all the .tmp files and emptied the recycle bin. Now Disk Defragmenter has stopped working. Or I should say it starts but

When I move my sound slider up and down I do not hear the basic DING noise on my 98 laptop. I do not hear any noise as a matter of fact. Does anyone know why? Thanks

Am using Win 98SE and I cannot re-install McAfee antispyware. I contacted tech support whom were unable to help me on two occassions. They tried, but they did not know. I may contact them a third time, or perhaps someone here knows the answer, which would be nice. But anyways

I was attempting to backup my Windows98 Favorites onto a floppy, when I got this error message: "Cannot copy (file name) : Cannot find the specified file. Make sure you specify the correct path and file name."

I went to the add/remove programs app and deleted garbage that AOL installed on my system. Garbage like the AOL Toolbar, AOL explorer (different than IE) and a free spyware scanner (I use McAfee). But know everytime I reboot I receive a message that the file

win98se.. had an electrical storm knocked out my video card and modem. Got the system back up and running but Win98 is really messed up. Shows all kinds of error msg, can't even reinstall antivirus (needs files).
