I found it necessary to reinstall Windows 98, then discovered that I
had lost the product key. Is there any legal way around this, or am I

Please help me....I just formatted my laptop so I could re-install the 98 SE,
as there was too much garbage in my system. When I got to the D: and entered
Setup....it told setup cannnot be run in DOS mode??? Can someone please tell
me how to get it so I can install the system ...

Hello - I'm getting emails and browsing using Avant, but if I open up a DOS
window and to ping www.ibm.com, I get Timeout messages.  I'm not sure this
is the problem, but I have a firewall, Tiny Personal Firewall, but I do not

Someone told me that the Microsoft website has a free upgrade available for
download from plain Win 98 to Win 98SE.  Is this true?  If so, could someone

To all,
MY question is does anyone know which files and folders I have to save to be
able to restore my OS from a cloned disk.  I have a w98 CD and  W98se
installed  on my C: drive and backed  up the entire disk to my F: drive.  If

it to "never dial a connection" it is ok but on startup it reverts to
