Thet are in blue type and its amess to look at...Apparently this may have something to do with windows updating. If i ger rid of them, would I be uninstalling those recent updates? Why would they be listed as Uninstall...to confuse us?

When I start system in SAFE Mode I still have the problem. However, using Win98SE ScanDisk / Defrag I do get the message "Scan Disk Cannot Continue Because A Program Such As A Disk Utility Has Locked This Drive. Close The Program Or Wait For It To Finish, Then Restart ScanDisk" ...

Hello. I have a multiboot system running 98SE, XP Pro SP3 and Ubuntu. I bought a 1GB stick of RAM for a Dell computer that matches the specs of my motherboard perfectly. The RAM is recognized fine by XP and Ubuntu. When I try to boot into 98 I get the 98 boot screen for a moment ...

1. Thank-your for the comeback. 2. I was trying to start DOS from the "sign-off" menu. That got me noplace 3. When I started in SAFE mode at boot, the problem remained. 4. When I started SAFE mode a second time, I chose "Command Prompt".

Please excuse. I am not sure if I am in the proper newsgroup. I am shotgunning this to every Win98 newsgroup that I am coming across. I have tried looking this up on the new, but the only thing that it relates to is WinME
