All my COM and LPT ports have disappeared...
They do not come back after reboot.
The parallel port is "active" under BIOS.
A new 98SE install gives the same result: no lpt1 !

I have a Canon S900 printer about 2 yrs old runin on win98. Problem is that
when I print out photos, there is a red tint or hue throughout the photo.
Funny thing is, that it ONLY occurs when printing photos. When I switch to
plain paper....its fine.....but this setting wont print ...
