I've got an older computer that HAD win95 on it and i'm
trying to put win98 on it.I've erased 95 and i get to dos
without any problems but I cant get 98 to boot ,the only
way it will boot is from A or C.Im using a startup disk

Some of my files are corrupted and I need to reinstall
WIN98.  However, I can't get past the DOS prompt level. I
can't even start Windows in safe mode.  Does anybody have
any suggestions how to procede?  All the install and

When installing over 98SE version gone bad, the reboot
brings up the old autoexec and config files.  Aren't these
over-written in the install?  If not, any "clean" versions
on start-up or install disks?

I threw away my product key information and am trying to
recover Win 98 and apps with my Compaq recovery
disks....somebody send me a key, Compaq Help Line is
USELESS!

A pal of mine is building thier own pc.  They have a new hard disk
out of the box.  No operating system at all.  They have a win98
install cd.  What else is necessary.  Does she have to have a set of
DOS install disks.  How about formating the hard disk.

I installed openGL95 by accident and now I can;t get past

Win 98 SE.
A friend who actually know less about computers than I do, is having
problems with his computer. (400 mhz AMD) He is not sure when the problem
started but now it does not play normal Windows sounds.

Scandisk has been activated after a series of bad
shutdowns (18month old!). It starts and goes about 22% and
then freezes after reporting a data error while reading
cluster 37399.
