upgrade failure from Win95 to Win98SE31 Mar 2004 22:41 GMT6
I tried to upgrade from Win 95 to Win 98SE and it checked
for available space (I cleaned disk and removed unnecessay
files, ran scandisk and defraged the drive before I
started the upgrade) During the upgrade at about 74%

I bought Windows 98Se about three years ago and installed
it just fine, registered it etc. A month or so ago I was
having some serious problems after installing SBC Yahoo
Dial Up. Got tired of the aggrevation and greif so I

I had WINDOWS 98 re-installed but the service company did
not reinstall the device drivers.
After installing the driver for my Epson printer, it
worked fine. After installing the remainder of my device

After Win 98 boots, the last thing loaded is a Dialogue
Box saying "Iomega Drivers for Windows 98 Setup"
It guides you to install the drivers then asks to restart.
After restarting it repeats the cycle, as if no drivers

my computer told me to download a windows update, but as
soon as i did i am getting a windows fatal exception error
every time i try running certain software programs such as
Norton Anti Virus and AOL.

I just made a new install of Win98 and all drivers, everything is cool (in
device manager, no device market with !). But every time the machine boot
found a new Unknow Device during the add new hardware winzard process.

Ihave a un-known device in the device mgr and don't know
how o what it is. It just says UNKNOWN DEVICE !

I have windows 95, when I try to upgrade to 98 with the
disc I get a message that says I already have an operating
system.  I need the win98 for DSL. Help please!

Greetings oh gurus.  my win98se machine is starting to slow down and go
unstable at times.  Trillian (a chat program) seems to exacerbate the
slow down so that any other program (and the mouse movement) becomes
very slow and poorly responsive.  Virus checks, adaware checks, ...

I formatted hard drive ready to clean install Win 98 se
upgrade & forgot that I had left my win98 cd in my Cd/rw
drive, consequently since the bootup disc only enabled cd
rom drive D: i could not access win 98 disc.

 Attempting to install W98 'upgrade' disc to new bare
drive but, of course, asks for ProductKey of Win 98.  
Don't have Win 98 basic disc any more nor the Key numbers

When I start Windows I get a message that "windows\system\vshinit.vxd" is
missing. How can I correct this? Thanks

about a week, won't boot up, leaves message file lost or
corrupt: windows root system32 hll.dll
All info suggests using windows 98 startup disc, whick I
